Racton Tower.

Racton Tower or Monument is on the corner of where the B2146 from Chichester meets the B2147. Walk up the bridleway beside the farm to see this magnificent structure enclosed by a copse and surrounded by open farmland. Built in the early 1770's by the Earl of Halifax it is now derelect and vandalised. It is not in danger of falling down due to the thickness of the walls but it needs a benefactor. The huge round Tower is some 25 metres high and has three chambers leading off to three further subsidiary towers. This is a classical Folly.
