Nore Folly.

From the A29 take the road to Slindon. Go past Slindon College and take the first right. At the bottom of the hill up above the farm the folly can be seen and from here you must walk.

This magnificent and useless structure gets more and more impressive as you approach. Now maintained by the National Trust it is in beautiful condition. The huge, thick walls look almost indestructible and are lined with horizontal bands of small flints. It was built between 1749 and 1786 by the Earl and Countess of Newburgh presumably to impress guests. It was certainly an inspirational idea and a true Folly. Stand in the archway and admire the panoramic views as visitors have done for over 200 years.
