Ashcombe Toll House.
Easy to find just off the roundabout south of Lewes on the A27. This was the old Toll House built about 1810. This tiny building is a little neglected and needs to be afforded the respect it deserves. Only 4 metres or so in diameter and 3 metres high it is bound with an iron strap for support. Rumour has it that a witch lived there in the 19th century. <<Back.
